Floyd Mayweather has filed a blockbuster lawsuit against Showtime and former Showtime Sports president Stephen Espinoza alleging missing earnings from several of his fights for the network including his 2017 showdown against UFC superstar Conor McGregor.

The lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday details Mayweather’s claims where he seeks to “recover hundreds of millions of dollars in misappropriated funds and damages resulting from a long-running and elaborate scheme of financial fraud” — with earnings of at least $340 million and potentially more based on “lost investment growth.”

Mayweather’s lawsuit claims Showtime and Espinoza allegedly “diverted funds intended for Mayweather into accounts controlled by [Al] Haymon,” the retired boxer’s former manager and advisor. Out of the $1.2 billion in earnings Mayweather has made from his fights, the lawsuit alleges at least $340 million is “missing.”

Much of the lawsuit takes aim at Haymon for allegedly engaging in a “pattern of financial manipulation and self-dealing behind Mayweather’s back,” which included “diverting portions of Mayweather’s fight earnings under false pretenses that Haymon then kept or controlled,” as well as routing fight revenues into secret bank accounts and paying himself and associates “large sums from Mayweather’s funds without authorization.”

In order to hide the stolen funds, Haymon allegedly only showed Mayweather partial documentation related to his fights and profits to prevent him from knowing the full amount earned.

In a strange twist, however, Haymon is not named as a defendant in the lawsuit.

The lawsuit further alleges that when Mayweather’s new representatives led by Richard Shaeffer sought detailed breakdowns of fight revenue, specifically tied to his 2015 fight against Manny Pacquiao and his 2017 fight against McGregor, Showtime was “unable or unwilling” to produce documentation.

Further claims state Haymon allegedly told them that certain documents were “lost due to a flood” while Showtime allegedly stated the files had been moved off site after the Showtime Sports division was downsized (and later eliminated entirely).

Mayweather signed with Showtime in a landmark deal in 2013 after previously working with HBO. He promoted several fights with the network before announcing his retirement following the McGregor fight in 2017.

During his career, Mayweather was one of the most watched and profitable fighters in combat sports history.

The lawsuit filed seeks damages in excess of $340 million as well as “punitive and exemplary damages,” which is requested for “at least equal to the compensatory damages.”

Andrei Arlovski wasn’t impressed watching Jake Paul suffer a knockout loss to Anthony Joshua, but he hopes the YouTuber-turned-boxer learned a valuable lesson in defeat.

After starting his career with an 11-1 record largely built around beating MMA fighters and past-their-prime boxers like Mike Tyson and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Paul found out how the other half lives with his lopsided loss to Joshua in December. Paul lost every round on the scorecards including a 10-7 fifth round after Joshua delivered multiple knockdowns.

The end came in the sixth after Joshua connected with a brutal right hand that broke Paul’s jaw in two places, ending the fight via knockout. While Arlovski doesn’t begrudge anyone getting involved with combat sports, he believes Paul realized in painful fashion that there are levels in this game.

“I didn’t like it but Jake Paul had f*cking great condition for six rounds,” Arlovski said about the fight when speaking to MMA Fighting. “Obviously he ran around, it doesn’t matter. He got his broken jaw. It’s not good. Broken jaw in two places is going to take some time to heal it to get recovered. We’ll see.

“Hopefully maybe yes, maybe not he’s going to get back into boxing. But for now, he might understand people who spend 10, 15, 20 years in boxing and MMA, it’s not like you’re training hard like last month in a boxing gym or something or do MMA. People f*cking spend their lives over there.”

Paul has definitely carved out his own place in boxing since making his debut, although his journey has been far from conventional when it comes to gaining experience early in his career. He’s become one of the most talked-about and marketable athletes in boxing, but Paul hasn’t faced stiff enough competition to warrant consideration as a world-class fighter yet.

Arlovski hasn’t been a big fan of the Jake Paul experience, but perhaps losing to Joshua might finally set things straight for him.

“To me, it’s all the time it was kind of disrespectful to professional athletes, to boxers and MMA,” Arlovski said. “[He’s saying] ‘oh we spent the last year in the boxing gym non-stop!’ My guy, I spent the last 25 years non-stop in the f*cking gym and not once, two or three times a day.

“You think you’re superhuman, you can come [and take a shortcut]? I tried to watch my mouth, don’t say a bad word but it’s not cool. Let’s put it this way. It’s not cool.”

While he was in the middle of his career in MMA, Arlovski actually tried to crossover to boxing as well after inking a contract to join Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions. At the time, Arlovski was potentially working towards a fight against either Wladimir or Vitali Klitschko, but the matchup never happened.

It took until this past November for Arlovski to finally get in the boxing ring when he made his debut at a Misfits event where he scored a brutal fourth-round knockout over an influencer named Kelz.

Arlovski has nothing but praise for his opponent, but much like Paul going against Joshua, Kelz was out of his depth challenging a fighter with much more high-level experience.

“He was super nice and I wish him all the best,” Arlovski said about Kelz. “But in the press conference, I remember him saying ‘the last year, everyday [I was in the gym].’ Come on my guy, let’s be f*cking serious. Everyday and not once but two or three times a day I’m at the gym and come on.

“I’m not going to try to play professional football right now because I’m big and think I’m strong and genius. Obviously not because you see people get hurt over there.”

Lopez with a combination that misses, and Stevenson all over him with the jabs. Stevenson with a solid uppercut now. Stevenson’s body shot counter nearly drops Lopez and that wakes up the crowd. Tension in the air at Madison Square Garden. Stevenson one-two combo lands. He’s too fast for Lopez so far in the fight. Stevenson connects a good left land to the face and round comes to an end. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9, Stevenson. Overall, 40-36 Stevenson.

Round 5:

Lopez’s father urges him to hit Stevenson. So far he was unable to cause any damage, but is back more aggressive now in the fourth. Stevenson makes him pay with quick jabs, though. Clash of heads and the referee stops the fight for a second. Lopez fires a right at the end but Stevenson easily defends. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9, Stevenson. Overall, 50-45 Stevenson.

Round 6:

Lopez’s father asks him to attack the body more now. Lopez is aggressive but Stevenson’s jabs land over and over again. Lopez simply can’t come any close without eating a jab. Lopez rushes forward and Stevenson jabs and he trips and falls, but no knockdown awarded. Stevenson smiles at Lopez after a jab stops his attack — again. Lopez misses a right hand, and there’s blood coming down from Lopez’s left eyebrow. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9, Stevenson. Overall, 60-54 Stevenson.

Round 7:

Lopez’s has no answer to what Stevenson has so far brought to the table tonight. Stevenson’s jabs keep landing, and Lopez’s is unable to get close enough to threaten and even land something relevant. Lopez switches stances but has nothing for Stevenson. Stevenson lands a body shot. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9, Stevenson. Overall, 70-63 Stevenson.

Round 8:

“What happened to your f*cking power, bro?” Lopez’s father urges Teofimo to use his jab and do something to hurt Stevenson but so far he’s been unable to connect. Stevenson landed 33 power shots in the fist seven rounds, with Lopez only landing 18. Lopez is missing most of the punches thrown.

Lopez attacking the body now, and finally countering Stevenson’s jab with a good right to the head. Stevenson’s jabs get blood coming down Lopez’s face again. Lopez with a flurry late in the round but it all landed on Stevenson’s guard. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9, Lopez. Overall, 79-73 Stevenson.

Round 9:

Lopez’s father seemed happy in between rounds, at last. There’s blood coming down on Lopez’s face as the jabs continue to find the target. Lopez appears to be more comfortable in the ninth. Lopez lands a solid right hook. Lopez with a left hook to the body. He tries one more time but Stevenson makes him pay for it by landing a left to the head. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9, Stevenson. Overall, 89-82 Stevenson.

Round 10:

“I told you all,” Stevenson tells the broadcast team before the start of round 10. Cold. The broadcast commentator compares the fight as like a grownup boxing a kid, and the crazy thing about it is that it’s fairly accurate.

Stevenson’s jab continue to keep Lopez away from him. Lopez’s left eye is covered in blood and as much as he tries to be aggressive and do something, Stevenson keeps him away. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9, Stevenson. Overall, 99-91 Stevenson.

Round 11:

Stevenson’s jabs continue to find the target, and a check right hook lands perfectly as Lopez rushes forward trying something. Lopez lands two to the body, a left and right, and one left hook to the head, but Stevenson smiles back at him. A perfect left hook shakes Lopez’s head. Lopez is bloody, and he eats right hand after right hand. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9, Stevenson. Overall, 109-100 Stevenson.

Round 12:

Lopez needs a miracle here after winning only one of 11 rounds tonight. Stevenson is three minutes away from winning a world title in a fourth weight class. Stevenson comfortable in the ring, jabs and hooks all night long. Fight is over, and Stevenson makes history. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9, Stevenson. Overall, 119-108 Stevenson.

Jarrell Miller went viral on the undercard of Teofimo vs. Stevenson at Madison Square Garden, but not for his boxing abilities.

The heavyweight entered the ring to take on Kingsley Ibeh for his first match since a majority draw versus Andy Ruiz Jr. in 2024, and Ibeh’s punches ended up knocking his hair off his head midway through the match.

Miller went to his corner after the round ended and decided to throw the toupee to the crowd.

Fans went crazy at MSG, and the scene went viral online. WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman eventually found the toupee in the crowd.

The Miller vs. Ibeh fight opened the undercard of the DAZN pay-per-view. In the end, the toupee falling off Miller’s head was the most exciting moment of the 10-round contest. The heavyweight duo went the distance and Miller was awarded the victor via split decision.

Lopez makes Stevenson wait in the ring as the challenger, and then walks out dancing with the Jabbawockeez on his way to the ring.

Round 1:

Lopez fires a right hand but eats a jab in response. Lopez goes to the body with a jab. Lopez misses with a right hand. Stevenson with a solid jab to the face of Lopez. And a left to the body for Lopez. Lopez marches forward and throws a fast left that nearly catches Stevenson. Stevenson with a good left hand connects to Lopez’s head. Lopez doubles up with right hands to body and head. Close round. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9, Stevenson.

Round 2:

Stevenson’s cornerman asks him in between rounds to continue working the jabs. He does that, and follows it up with a left hook to the body. Stevenson connects a left to the head but Lopez immediately responds with a right. Stevenson counters with a lightning-quick right to the body as Lopez advances with a jab attempt. Lopez attacks and Stevenson slips down to the ground. Action resumes. Stevenson’s jabs continue to land. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9, Stevenson. Overall, 20-18 Stevenson.

Round 3:

Stevenson with 18 to 7 in punches landed through first couple of rounds, according to official broadcast numbers. Stevenson with another solid jab. Lopez moves forward and Stevenson makes him pay with a short right to the head. Stevenson with jab to the head, and then jabs the body. Stevenson smiles at Lopez, and more jabs thrown his way. Lopez connects a good right to the body as they close the distance for a split second. Stevenson again smiles at Lopez, looking very comfortable in the ring. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9, Stevenson. Overall, 30-27 Stevenson.

Round 4:

Overall, 79-72 Stevenson.

Overall, 89-81 Stevenson.

Overall, 99-90 Stevenson.

Overall, 109-99 Stevenson.

Official result: Shakur Stevenson def. Teofimo Lopez via unanimous decision (119-108 x3)

Madison Square Garden had some fights take place ahead of schedule this weekend, with Bill Haney taking center stage.

On Saturday in New York City, Teofimo Lopez puts his The Ring and WBO junior welterweight titles on the line against the undefeated WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson. But following Friday’s weigh-ins at The Theater at MSG, it was Haney who found himself amid some action, as a brawl erupted near him and he jumped in, appearing to play peacemaker.

Check out the video below, courtesy of Fight Hub.

During the DAZN weigh-in show, the cameras cut to the brawl in the crowd following the main event staredowns, with Todd Grisham revealing Haney was somewhere in the center of the action.

There have been several other reports and videos on social media that say Haney may have been jumped after the initial skirmish took place. There are multiple videos out there of another battle happening, but it hasn’t been confirmed if Haney was the victim or involved.

Tyson Fury has a date and an opponent for his latest comeback.

Netflix announced Wednesday that Fury (34-2-1) is set to fight Arslanbek Makhmudov (21-2) in a heavyweight bout that will air live on the streaming service on April 11 in the U.K. The exact location and venue are yet to be revealed.

Fury retired from boxing in January 2025 following a second consecutive championship fight loss to rival Oleksandr Usyk. It was the fifth-such time Fury has hung up the gloves, leading to much skepticism around whether the 37-year-old was truly done fighting, especially with a highly anticipated bout with fellow British star Anthony Joshua still looming.

Sure enough, earlier this January, Fury announced his plans for a comeback and began regularly posting training videos and clips discussing his intentions to reach the top of the sport again. Fury is a former unified world champion and has captured belts across the various major organizations on multiple occasions. He seeks his first win since a narrow victory over former UFC star Francis Ngannou in October 2023.

For now, the Joshua fight is once again on hold with Joshua currently dealing with a personal tragedy. In December, Joshua was involved in a car accident in Nigeria that resulted in the death of close friends and coaches Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami.

Makhmudov has won his past two fights, and three of his past four, most recently defeating David Allen to capture a WBA Inter-Continental heavyweight title. The 36-year-old had aspirations to fight Joshua himself, but instead matches up with another legend of this era, Fury.

The Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act took one step closer to being introduced in Congress and potentially signed into law after clearing the House Committee on Education and Workforce.

In a 30-4 bipartisan vote — 19 Republicans and 11 Democrats — the committee approved the measure along with a few new amendments before being sent to the House of Representatives for the next step in the process. The debate during a session on Wednesday largely centered around a few changes that representatives introduced to improve the proposed bill but politicians on both sides of the aisle were on board with pushing the legislation through to Congress.

The new law doesn’t change the existing Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act, which was signed into law back in 2000, but instead introduces new rules that allows for UFC style promotion — under the name Unified Boxing Organizations (UBO) — in the sport of boxing. That includes a promotion being allowed to sign fighters to exclusive contracts, introduce promotional rankings and titles along with other required provisions for health, safety and pay.

“Today represents a critical step toward passage of the first update to federal boxing law in over a quarter century, and this legislation is now positioned for consideration by the full United States House of Representatives with strong bipartisan support,” Representative Brian Jack from Georgia, who co-sponsored the bill alongside Sharice Davids from Kansas, said in a statement.

“I am deeply appreciative of the broad coalition of support this legislation has received from Lonnie Ali, the Association of Boxing Commissions, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, USA Boxing, former Heavyweight Champion Mike Tyson, and many others. Their advocacy made today possible.”

The public session on Wednesday introduced several new amendments, which were voted on and approved by the committee before passing the bill onto Congress.

Chairman Tim Walberg, a Republican from the state of Michigan, introduced the following changes:

Increasing the proposed minimum payment-per-round from $150 to $200

Expanding the proposed minimum medical coverage from $25,000 to $50,000

Updating the proposed timelines and frequency requirements for mandatory medical testing, including eye exams, bloodwork, brain health testing, and related evaluations.

Representative Mark Harris, a Republican from North Carolina, introduced a proposal that updates the minimum number of physicians and ambulances required to be present to two for any bout being promoted by a UBO.

Finally, Representative Ilhan Omar, a Democrat from Minnesota, proposed the following changes, which were also approved during the meeting.

Mandating boxer contracts be no longer than six years

Updating the proposed free agency provisions to allow boxers, beginning 30 days prior to the expiration of their contracts, to initiate contact with other UBOs or promoters

Establishing that, in the absence of a bout within any six-month period, a boxer is entitled to compensation equal to ten times the minimum per-round compensation of $200.

With that vote, the committee approved the measure and now that goes to the House of Representatives where GOP leadership including Speaker of the House Mike Johnson decide to bring the bill to the floor for a vote. Considering the strong support the bill has received from both Republicans and Democrats not to mention President Donald Trump almost assuredly signing the bill into law, it seems likely that it won’t take long to end up before Congress for a vote.

“Now fighters are going to have more options,” UFC CEO Dana White said about the bill during the Zuffa Boxing press conference. “Why is that a bad thing? Why are more options a bad thing? They’re not. I expected it anyway. Today was a great day for [the Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act]. The vote was incredible. Looking good.”

The UFC is about to kick off a new seven-year, $7.7 billion deal with Paramount+, but the fighters competing for the promotion still aren’t making the same kind of money that puts them on par with top athletes from other sports.

A list of the top 100 highest-paid athletes in 2025 was released recently by Sportico with estimations made for both salaries and endorsements accounting for the total salaries made over the 12-month span. Soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo topped the list with $260 million, which included $200 million in contracted salary and another $60 million from endorsements and sponsorships.

When it comes to combat sports, boxing was represented in the No. 2 slot with Canelo Alvarez reportedly earning $137 million in 2025 with $125 million coming from his contracted payouts along with $12 million in endorsement deals.

Out of the top 100 highest-paid athletes, there were four total boxers listed with Terence Crawford at No. 21 after earning $66 million, Naoya Inoue at No. 25 with $62 million and Jake Paul rounding out the list at No. 30 with $60 million.

The athlete sitting at No. 100 was New York Knicks’ player OG Anunoby with $37.9 million earned in 2025.

There are several lists published each year with the highest-paid athletes with some salary information made public through contracts and negotiations, although often times the total amounts earned are only estimates.

The UFC fighter with the most appearances on these lists remains Conor McGregor, who actually hit No. 1 on Forbes’ highest paid athletes list back in 2021 after he reportedly earned $180 million but a huge part of that figure came from the Irish superstar selling the majority share in his Proper No. 12 whiskey brand for $150 million. McGregor also made a similar list after his boxing match with Floyd Mayweather back in 2017, but the largest part of his salary came from that fight because he did not compete in the UFC that year.

With the UFC doing away with pay-per-view as part of the deal with Paramount, which is where the highest-paid fighters typically made the vast majority of their salaries, it remains to be seen if anybody makes the list for 2026.
