Medics immediately moved to help Smotherman, who briefly sat up before laying back down on the floor. He remained there for some time before standing and appearing to be conscious, though he had to be carried off the stage.
It is unclear what caused Smotherman to faint. The UFC later announced that his bout with Turcios is officially off of Saturday’s card.
“The Baby-Faced Killer” entered fight week on a two-loss skid after dropping decisions to Ricky Simon and Serhiy Sidey in 2025. Prior to those setbacks, Smotherman won his UFC debut against Jake Hadley. His pro record stands at 12-6.
**UPDATE**
At the UFC 324 Ceremonial Weigh-Ins, Megan Olivi gave an update from the UFC medical team, revealing that CT scans of the head and neck came back clear for Smotherman, who received some sutures and was discharged from the hospital on Friday.
