Keyshawn Davis vs. Jamaine Ortiz

Round 1: Big one for former WBO lightweight champ Davis against Ortiz, who enters the ring on a three-fight winning streak since losing to Teofimo Lopez in 2024. They open up with jabs, finding the distance and Davis goes to the body with a right. Davis lands two right hands that get Ortiz off balance for a second. Ortiz chases Davis with three jabs that do not connect. Davis again with a jab to the body. Ortiz throws a left to the head but misses. They throw wildly in the final seconds. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9, Davis.

Round 2: They’re back in the center of the ring and Davis lands a left over Ortiz’s jab. And again to the body. Ortiz keeps using his jab but not actually connecting. Davis responds with a right to the head. And two to the body that hurts Ortiz as he was switching stances. Ortiz circles right and left but Davis is pressuring him against the ropes. Davis lands a hard right to the head and one to the body and Ortiz is having a hard time countering. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9, Davis. Overall, 20-18 Davis.

Round 3: Davis masterfully dodges Ortiz’s jabs. Ortiz misses a right hand, too. Davis attacks with a three-punch combo, and pushes him against the ropes with a combination. Ortiz tries to answer but misses. Davis to the body, and Ortiz misses a left. Referee stops the action to ask both fighter to watch the heads after a near clash. Action resumes and Davis keeps landing from afar but nothing that hard. Ortiz finally lands a good one, a short left hand that caught Davis’ attention. Davis responds, and Ortiz realizes a good moment and begins to showboat before round ends. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9, Davis. Overall, 30-27 Davis.

Round 4: Davis takes center of the ring as round starts and opens with a good combo to the body. Ortiz jumping and circling around but missing the punches. Davis throws a right hand that misses, and Ortiz fires a combo and they clinch. Ortiz lands but Davis counters with a left hook. Davis lands to the body after both miss jabs and Ortiz continues to be more aggressive. Davis jabs, and Ortiz’s cornerman asks for him to throw jabs as well. Davis lands a good right hook to and the round. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9, Davis. Overall, 40-36 Davis.

Round 5: Davis lands a left hand to the body. Ortiz connects a left as they were separating. Davis misses a one-two and Ortiz nearly goes for a takedown. Davis’ combination continue to work and Ortiz, although more active, can’t land anything major. Ortiz nearly slips, and the match resumes right away. Davis hurts Ortiz with a good body shot. 25 seconds left and Davis connects a right cross as Ortiz marches forward. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9, Davis. Overall, 50-45 Davis.

Round 6: Ortiz’s cornerman asks him to be more aggressive with his attacks. So far he’s throwing jabs from long distance and most of the time it’s not landing. Ortiz doubles up with the jabs and ti finally lands. Crowd begins to boo — it’s been a long night so far with a bunch of decisions and only one knockout. Davis again works the body, and then two jabs, and another jab. Ortiz tries an uppercut but misses. Ortiz’s left cross lands on Davis’ guard. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9, Davis. Overall, 60-54 Davis.

Round 7: Davis starts the round with a three-punch combo that land, but not enough to hurt Ortiz. He keeps pressuring Ortiz, who circles to escape. Davis with great head movement to avoid Ortiz’s attacks. Ortiz back more aggressive but, as in previous rounds, not doing damage. Davis doubles up with jabs to then go to he body, and Ortiz responds with hooks that land on target. 30 seconds on the clock and Ortiz’s coach ask him to be aggressive but Davis was the one with the best punches thrown before time runs out. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9, Davis. Overall, 70-63 Davis.

Round 8: Broadcast shows Davis landed 40 body attacks through eight rounds, against Ortiz’s only 16. Davis with a solid left cross to the head but Ortiz sees that coming. Davis with a good left once again before they wrestle in the ring. Fans shower then with boos again. Ortiz goes wild and has Davis on the corner but don’t do any damage. Ortiz fires two left hands, missing both attacks. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9, Davis. Overall, 80-72 Davis.

Round 9: Davis asks his cornerman in between if Ortiz is trying to counter him. Ortiz needs a knockout if he wants to have his hands raised tonight. Davis lands more in the first minute of the round than in previous two rounds combined, probably. Ortiz can’t get close to him to counter. Ortiz’s cornerman says Davis is tired, but doesn’t really look like it. Ortiz finally lands two on the head but Davis responds with stronger punches. Ortiz with two to the body. Ortiz with another solid body shot. Ortiz walks forward to attack but Davis is the one who actually lands. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9, Davis. Overall, 90-81 Davis.

Round 10: Davis connects with a left hook and a right straight to the head of Ortiz, and fires over and over again. Ortiz defending and missing early in the round. Davis’ left finds the target. Davis making Ortiz pay with his aggressiveness with a four-punch combination. Ortiz’s left eye swollen. Ortiz connects a right to the body, and Davis responds with a body shot and misses an uppercut. Davis throws another combination but Ortiz covers up nicely. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9, Davis. Overall, 100-90 Davis.

Round 11: The doctor checks Ortiz’s left eye before allowing him back in the fight. Davis landing to the hand but a left body shot has Ortiz on his knees. Count to nine but he’s back on his feet. Davis smells blood and goes for the finish. Ortiz is on the ropes and Davis relentless with the punishment. Davis with a left hook to the body but Ortiz eats it well. Davis with a monster right hand and Ortiz won’t even blink. Davis taunts Ortiz before going again and again to the body. 30 seconds left in the clock and Davis connects a good right right and misses the uppercut. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-8, Davis. Overall, 110-98 Davis.

Round 12: The doctor checks Ortiz’s left eye before the final round. It’s swollen, but the doctor allows him to continue. Davis opens up with the left hook to the body. Ortiz needs a miracle to win this and it’s not looking doable. Davis with another body shot. And a jab to the head. Davis connects two left hooks to body and head. Ortiz not giving up but has no answer for Davis’ offensiveness. Davis’ lands a monster right hand and Ortiz almost loses his leg. Davis senses blood again and attacks with another left hook to the body, and Ortiz is again on his knees. The referee immediately calls it, and Davis the winner by knockout with seconds left on the final round.
